Barclay Fonts Wiki

Barclay Fonts is a free API service developed by Moneto that allows developers to load and use any fonts from any of the participating font foundries. The service uses vanilla JavaScript to dynamically load the fonts from CSS files provided and maintained by each individual foundry.

The service is available globally and works on most modern devices, including desktop and mobile platforms. Most modern web browsers (such as Google Chrome, Safari, and Mozilla Firefox) should be able to run the service. Speeds depend on the user’s internet connection, their browser, and their overall system.

All of the fonts in the Barclay Fonts Library are delivered in TrueType format (.ttf), which isn’t the standard font format for web development. The files aren’t delivered in WOFF or WOFF2 formats because the service uses the same libraries and CSS files that FontCheckout uses, which is primarily aimed at publishers (because TrueType fonts are better for programs like Word, Scribus, Inkscape, etc.) Foundries may choose to provide a WOFF or WOFF2 version of their library for the Barclay Fonts service, but it isn’t required.

Most fonts available on Barclay Fonts are also available on FontCheckout, but some might only be available on one service and not the other.
